My name is Rowan Sims, and I’m a wedding photographer. I live and work in Wellington, but I’m also available in the Wairarapa, Kapiti, and around New Zealand.

Wedding photography has changed a lot in recent years. Change isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I find it tends to make people a little nervous and uncomfortable. People seem to be less and less sure about what they can expect from a wedding photographer, and weddings are definitely not something you want to be unsure about!

I like to make things simple. I like to be straight-up from the start so that I can try to help reduce some of those nerves and anxiety that inevitably surrounds a wedding. I keep things very simple and clear so that you know exactly what you can expect from me, what you will get when you hire me, and what it will cost.

Many wedding photographers will tell you that they will be there for eight hours, but can stay longer if you are willing to pawn off that beautiful ring you just put on your finger to pay for it. I see a wedding as a whole story with a beginning and an end, and I will be there for all of it to tell the whole story. I will arrive in the morning when you want me to, cover everything through getting ready, the ceremony, formals, and the reception, and I won’t leave the party until you do. When you hire me, you get me for the day, not matter how many hours that may be.

All my wedding packages come with a disk of high-resolution images in colour and B&W for you to get as creative as you like for as many years as you like. You can handle the printing yourself, or take advantage of one of my wedding packages that includes a print credit, so you can order high-quality prints through me.

Some of my wedding packages also include an engagement session. This can be a fun way to celebrate getting engaged, gives you some beautiful photos of yourselves to remember this period of your lives together, and allows us to get to know each other before the big day so that you’re relaxed and comfortable with the camera and with me. These photos can be great for using in your wedding invitations or save-the-date cards.
